Summer 2009 Edition

I need my space! With a busy life, the boys, my various jobs, I thrive on my own time and space. I sometimes escape to the Square in Crawley and sit reading the papers whilst having a cup of tea. How much I have witnessed! The heartache of families, the joys of couples, children running around happily and others like me, just people watching! I have met some amazing people - hello to the ladies sitting outside Marks & Spencers last week! The summer holidays will soon be upon us - how are we going to entertain the children without spending a fortune? - Well, we are lucky to have Tilgate Park and Southwater Park so close to us as they have much to offer. Have you ever thought about fostering or adoption? Brighton and Hove City council are looking for dedicated people who live within 30 miles of the City to adopt or to foster. Facts about fostering What is foster care and how does it differ from adoption? Fostering is a way of offering children and young people a home while their own parents are unable to look after them. This is often a temporary arrangement, and many fostered children return to their own families. On any one day over 50,000 children live with foster carers in England and Wales. Adoption, on the other hand, is where a new family is carefully found for children who can no longer live with their own parents. An adoption order transfers the child’s legal relationship from their birth parents to the new adoptive family. About...

If so, now is the time to get them registered for the Giant Sleepover and enter this competition for the opportunity to win the night sleeping among the swishing tails in the Sea Life Centre.      On the 20 June 2009, tens of thousands of children across the globe will take part in The Giant Sleepover, the world’s largest simultaneous sleepover where they will spend the night away from home, carry out fun activities, learn new skills and sleep (hopefully!) for 7 hours to raise money for children’s charity.
